Medieval Gauntlet Glove Armour

$169.00

A gauntlet is a type of glove that protects the hand and wrist of a combatant. Gauntlets were used particularly in Europe between the early fourteenth century and the early modern period and were often constructed of hardened leather or metal plates. The phrase ‘to throw down the gauntlet” means to challenge. The term derives from the time of medieval knights when a knight would offer a challenge by throwing down his gauntlet. The other knight accepted the challenge by picking up the gauntlet.

These finely handcrafted gauntlets are wearable as a costume for re-enactments, Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) or just for fun. Otherwise, they make a great addition to your own cabinet of curiosities.
