There is no greater Viking hero known to us now than Thor. Thor, son of Odin, god of thunder, and wielder of Mjolnir, his most legendary and powerful hammer.
According to Norse mythology, Mjolnir was actually gifted to Thor by Loki, god of trickery. Legend has it that Loki had cut off the hair of Thor's wife as an act of mischief, this angering Thor. To stay Thor's anger, Loki ventured to the realm of the dwarves, who were the finest smiths in the nine realms and managed to trick the dwarves there out of several of their treasures. One of those treasures was Mjolnir. Upon seeing the finest weapon in creation, Thor decided to let Loki live, and in return her kept Mjolnir, his all powerful boomeranging hammer.
